The Minecraft with RTX Beta Is Out Now!

Minecraft with RTX on Windows 10 is now available to download and play! Minecraft with RTX brings fully path-traced rendering, physically-based materials, and NVIDIA DLSS 2.0 to Minecraft, delivering bleeding-edge visual fidelity and realism that can be experienced on all GeForce RTX GPUs. To demonstrate the full capabilities of Minecraft with RTX’s new technologies, which deliver unbelievable sights with jaw-dropping, previously-impossible-to-achieve effects, we have worked with Minecrafters to create 6 stunning Creator Worlds, downloadable for free from the in-game Minecraft Marketplace. The results of Minecraft with ray tracing are astounding – realistic hard and soft shadows are seen everywhere; global illumination realistically lights the world, with that light filling interiors through windows and gaps in the terrain; illuminated blocks and other light sources cast pixel-perfect lighting; reflections are seen on all reflective surfaces and blocks, with a level of fidelity far surpassing that of screen space reflections; light reflects, refracts and scatters through water, ice, stained glass, and other transparencies; and atmospheric effects occur naturally, resulting in high-quality volumetric fog, and pixel-perfect god rays.
  3. NVIDIA’s GeForce Now is still bleeding game support despite recent additions. The GPU maker has revealed that all titles from Warner Bros., Xbox Game Studios, Codemasters and Klei will lose support for the game streaming service on April 24th. The news came tucked into a post meant to highlight support from big names like Bandai Namco, Bungie, Epic Games and Ubisoft — clearly, some creators are happier than others. The service has lost games from multiple publishers since its early February launch, including 2K Games, Activision Blizzard and Bethesda. More games have come to the cloud gaming service at the same time, but it’s evident that there isn’t broad-based industry support. It isn’t surprising that Microsoft’s Xbox Game Studios left, at least. Project xCloud will be a direct competitor to GeForce Now when it’s ready — Microsoft doesn’t have as much incentive to stick with NVIDIA’s platform as other game creators.

  5. Google has offered refunds to anyone who has already bought a game just added to the £8.99-a-month Stadia Pro subscription. A Stadia Pro subscription gives you a discount on some Stadia games. Overnight, Google announced two new games available for Stadia Pro subscribers for the month of December: Farming Simulator 19 and Tomb: Raider Definitive Edition. Both games go live at 5pm UK time on 1st December, and bring the total number of Stadia Pro titles to four (Destiny 2: The Collection and Samurai Shodown are already on there). The problem is, Farming Simulator 19 (£29.99) and Tomb: Raider: Definitive Edition (on sale at £8) were Stadia launch titles (yes, you have to buy Stadia games on top of the cost of the Stadia Pro subscription). Some Stadia owners, who are by default currently Stadia Pro subscribers because of the three months thrown in with the Founder's Edition, bought these games - and just two weeks later Google is making them available to all Stadia owners for free. Perhaps mindful of a potential backlash, Google is offering refunds. "We know that some users have recently purchased these two games for their collection," wrote google community manager Grace. "Because of the proximity between the launch of the platform, and the announcement of these titles in Stadia Pro, we're happy to assist you if you'd like to request a refund if you have purchased either or both of these titles, even if it's outside of our normal policy." While it's good to see Google offer its customers a refund on this, it feels like it should be an automatic thing, rather than something people need to manually request. If you do want a refund, head over to Google's Support website. Stadia Pro is in desperate need of games before its three months free period expires, so expect Google to add a chunk of games to it over the coming months. Of course, other platforms run into this same issue: Xbox Live Gold and PlayStation Plus subscribers often lament the addition of free games to their subscriptions if they've recently bought the incoming titles - but both those platforms at least give a month's notice. I do not expect Google will offer a refund of this kind again but I do expect it to announce Stadia Pro games at least one month in advance from now on.

  9. Want the ultimate farming experience? Farming Simulator 19 Platinum Edition provides it! Available to purchase both digitally and at retail on Xbox One, PS4 and PC, Farming Simulator 19 Platinum Edition takes everything that was great about the original Farming Simulator 19, and throws a ton more content at it! And if you didn’t ever get round to spending time with the game when it originally launched, now is your very best opportunity. Farming Simulator 19 Platinum Edition comes to Xbox One, PS4 and PC to provide would-be farmers with the tools needed in order to replicate the real-life in the video gaming scene. This means that when you get dropped into the life of an everyday farmer, you’ll discover huge opportunities in place – expect to be tending to crops, caring for animals, and running many exciting activities in order to ensure your farm is an utter success. A price of £44.99 sees newcomers to the trade given access to more than 380 vehicles and tools, including the newest CLAAS kit that the Platinum Edition comes with, as they go about growing their farm in line with the online world, downloading community-driven projects in order to go real deep. Those who previously purchased Farming Simulator 19 aren’t left out though and an easy to handle £15.74 asking price is found attached to the Platinum Expansion, pushing out all the new content to those who already have the base game. Further to that though and a couple more additions to the DLC library arrive with the introduction and standalone purchases of the CLAAS Dominator 108 SL Maxi for £0.79, and the CLAAS Torion 1914 Dev Mule for the same price. The Xbox Store, PlayStation Store or PC offering will allow you to download each of the various options right now, with the links above sorting you out in a cinch. Should you prefer the physical way of life though then Farming Simulator 19 Platinum Edition is also available down that route – just pop over to Amazon and grab it. We’ll be following up our original review of Farming Simulator 19 on Xbox One with some thoughts surrounding the Platinum Edition real soon. Keep an eye out for it.
  10. NordVPN, one of many VPNs (Virtual Private Networks) available to anyone with an internet connection, has confirmed it's been hacked. This admission comes on the heals of earlier rumors that the company had been breached. It appears an expired internal security key was exposed, allowing anyone outside the company unauthorized access. A NordVPN spokesperson said the breach was discovered a few months ago, but only made the information public today because it wanted to be "100 percent sure that each component within our infrastructure is secure." The data breach happened in March of 2018, when an unauthorized individual accessed a server the company was renting in Finland. The server had been active for a month beforehand, and the attacker exploited an insecure remote management system left by the data center provider. While the company has intrusion detection systems installed to find breaches like this, it did not predict that it would or could come from a "remote management system left by the data center provider" as it did in this case. NordVPN said it was unaware that that system even existed. However, the company maintains that the attacker did not gain access to activity logs, user-credentials, or any other sensitive information. NordVPN maintains what it says is a strict "zero logs" policy. "We don’t track, collect, or share your private data," the company says on its website. Troubling, however, is that one NordVPN researcher, who declined to be identified, said this attack is indicative of a larger issue, a "full remote compromise of this provider's systems." VPNs help protect your online data by creating a private network across a shared or public one—basically allowing anyone connected to the same network to send and receive data as if they were connected directly to a private network. Many corporations use VPN services for remote users, while for home use, VPNs are often used to circumvent things like geo-blocks to watch a video or access other media not available in a specific region. They can also connect to proxy servers to further protect personal identity on the internet (for good or evil intent). If you are a NordVPN user and want to take precautions, there are other excellent VPN services that you might be interested in. Thanks, TechCrunch.
  11. Stadia, Google's cloud gaming service, is coming Nov. 19, Google hardware chief Rick Osterloh announced Tuesday at the Made by Google event in New York. Osterloh said you'll be able to play games through Stadia on TVs, laptops and Pixel phones. The Stadia controller is the first cloud-based controller, Google said, and it's designed to offer a more comfortable grip than other controllers. Last month, an image of an Android TV road map hinted that Stadia could be coming to the platform. Also, last month, the $129.99 Stadia Premiere Edition preorder bundle arrived after the Stadia Founder's Edition sold out in Europe. The Premiere Edition includes a Clearly White Stadia controller, a Chromecast Ultra streaming device, three months of $9.99-a-month Stadia Pro and Bungie's full Destiny 2 collection. Those who bought the Founder's Edition get a limited-edition Night Blue Stadia controller, a Chromecast Ultra, three months of Stadia Pro, the full Destiny 2 collection, first dibs on a username, and a buddy pass that gives a friend three months to try Stadia Pro. Over the summer, Google doled out more details about the gaming service. Stadia Pro offers 4K/60p HDR quality (at 35Mb/sec) with 5.1 surround sound, free games added to your library and discounts with the Stadia Pro tier, which costs $9.99 per month. Stadia subscribers can expect games like Red Dead Redemption 2, Grand Theft Auto III, Wolfenstein: Youngblood and Borderlands 3. Stadia will come shortly after Arcade arrived, Apple's own gaming service.
